"Away, away, from men and towns,
To the wild wood and the downs,
To the silent wilderness,
Where the soul need not repress its music."
Percy Shelley, (1792-1822), "To Jane, The Invitation," c.1820
Inspired by British wildlife and the intricate details of its habitats, I attempt to breath life into my drawings and paintings.
As a lecturer in countryside management with a deep understanding of ecology, I seek to convey a realistic impression of species as they would behave in the British landscape. Each species represented is considered to be a native of this country, and many are at risk of decline as a result of changing land use, urbanisation and a changing climate.
Within these pages I aim to not only offer a creative re-creation of our beautiful fauna and flora but also insight into the problems which species encounter.
